FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Clear answers before you book.
Matrix Bodywork is assessment-driven care. These answers explain how to begin, what the appointment options mean, and how treatment fits alongside other care.
01
Getting Started
What should a new client book first?
New clinical clients begin with an Initial Assessment. It is $250 and lasts approximately 90 minutes. The appointment combines assessment with hands-on treatment and establishes the direction for follow-up care.
What happens during the Initial Assessment?
The Initial Assessment includes a postural and movement assessment, discussion of what you are experiencing, and hands-on treatment. Don uses what he observes—and how you respond—to decide which treatment approaches may be appropriate.
How do established clients book follow-up care?
Established clients can book directly through the Matrix ClinicSense schedule. Follow-up care is offered as a Focused or Comprehensive Session according to the scope of work.
What is the Postural & Movement Assessment Only option?
This is a $79, approximately 30-minute assessment with no hands-on treatment. The same assessment is already included within the $250 Initial Assessment.
02
Your Session
What is the difference between Focused and Comprehensive follow-up care?
A Focused Session is $110 and approximately 40 minutes for a focused region, pattern, or objective after the treatment direction is established. A Comprehensive Session is $185 and approximately 70 minutes for broader or more complex work involving multiple regions or patterns.
Are appointments sold by time?
Focused and Comprehensive describe the scope of treatment. Approximate times are used for scheduling; they are not a menu of time-based massage services.
What should I expect after a session?
Responses vary with the person and the work performed. Don will discuss relevant observations and next steps with you, and your response helps guide future care. Matrix does not promise a specific outcome.
03
Treatment & Techniques
How do you decide which techniques to use?
Techniques are selected according to the assessment, the treatment objective, and how you respond. Matrix does not ask clients to choose from a modality menu.
Is ScarWork booked separately?
No. ScarWork is a treatment approach that may be incorporated into a normal Matrix session when it is relevant. New clients begin with an Initial Assessment; established clients book normal follow-up care.
Is Kinesio Taping booked separately?
No. Kinesio Taping is a treatment tool that may be incorporated when assessment indicates it could be useful. It does not have a separate public booking path or price.
Do you offer traditional Swedish or Deep Tissue massage?
Yes, as a 90-minute, $199 option for established Matrix clients only. New clinical clients begin with the Initial Assessment.

Scope & Referrals

Can Matrix work alongside PT, chiropractic, surgical recovery, or other care?
Yes, massage and bodywork may complement care from physical therapists, chiropractors, surgeons, physicians, and other providers. Matrix does not replace medical or rehabilitative evaluation and treatment.
When should I seek medical evaluation first?
If symptoms are new, severe, rapidly changing, unexplained, or otherwise concerning, medical evaluation may be appropriate before bodywork. Don may also recommend medical evaluation when something appears outside massage-therapy scope.
Can Matrix communicate with a referring provider?
When useful and with the client’s authorization, Matrix can share relevant non-diagnostic observations with a referring or treating provider.
